Why Milestone Rewards exists
Improving caregiver retention is key to agency success. Caregivers often leave within their first 90 days, and recognition early on can make all the difference. Our milestone rewards feature helps you boost engagement by recognizing caregivers for the hard work they’re already doing—without adding extra admin effort.
Agencies using this feature have seen up to a 20% improvement in 90-day retention, proving that consistent, meaningful recognition drives stronger caregiver relationships.
How it works
This feature automatically rewards caregivers when they hit specific milestones, such as:
Completing their first visit
Reaching hour-based thresholds (e.g., 100, 250, 500, 1000 hours worked)
Caregivers earn points or dollar-equivalent rewards automatically, and you stay top-of-mind as an employer who appreciates their contributions.

Admin settings
From your dashboard, you can:
Turn milestones on or off
Adjust reward values (points or dollars)
Require clock in/out compliance for milestones
When first enabled, caregiver activity from the past 30 days is automatically checked so recent milestones are rewarded.
Rules and adjustments
If compliance is required, only compliant visits count toward milestones.
Changes apply only to future milestones. Past rewards remain unchanged.
Adding new milestones will reward caregivers retroactively if they’ve already passed the threshold (unless a higher milestone has already been earned).
Backfilling
When you first turn on the feature:
Caregiver activity from the past 30 days is retroactively checked
Any milestones hit during that window will be rewarded
Example: If you launch on June 1, activity from May 2 onward will be counted.
Making changes after launch
You can update milestone values anytime
Clock in/out compliance can’t be turned off after launch (contact your CSM or help@caribou.care if you need support)
Changes apply only to future milestones (past rewards aren’t updated retroactively)
Example: If you raise the 100-hour reward from $10 to $20, caregivers who already received $10 won’t get the difference.
Adding New Milestones Later
You can add more milestones at any time. If a caregiver already passed that threshold, they’ll get the new reward right away unless they’ve already received a higher milestone.
Turning Off the Feature
You can’t fully disable milestone rewards from the dashboard, but you can turn off all individual milestones if you don’t want to use them. To disable this feature completely, contact your CSM or help@caribou.care
