Why we introduced Birthday & Anniversary Rewards
Birthday and Anniversary Rewards give your agency the ability to celebrate caregivers automatically, right in Caribou. With this feature, Admins can set up custom amounts, edit messages, and ensure caregivers see recognition on their birthdays and work anniversaries—without any extra steps or delays.
When to use this reward:
Use Birthday Rewards to recognize individual caregivers on their special day and build personal connection. Use Anniversary Rewards to highlight milestones that matter for retention and loyalty. These can be configured as yearly rewards, tiered anniversaries (like 1, 5, 10, 15 years), or custom milestones (e.g., only at 3 years and 10 years) which we will go over how to set up below.
Why it matters
Full Access Admins can set up and manage automated birthday and anniversary rewards directly in the dashboard, making it simple to ensure caregivers feel recognized on their special days. This means less time spent on back-and-forth setup and more consistency in how recognition is delivered across your agency.

Do birthdays support both points and tickets?
- Yes.

Do anniversaries support tickets?
- No, anniversaries support points only. Contact Support if tickets are required.

When are rewards given?
- Birthdays: On your caregiver’s birthday.
- Anniversaries: At 00:00 local time on their hire date anniversary.
Troubleshooting & Tips

Issue: Your caregiver didn’t receive their anniversary reward.
Tip: Check if your agency has set a minimum hours requirement. Rewards are only delivered if your caregiver meets the hours threshold in the past 365 days.

Issue: You changed the reward amount, but your caregivers didn’t see it.
Tip: Confirm if you selected Immediate (applies to current and future rewards) or Future only (applies to new rewards going forward).

Issue: Your caregiver’s hire date looks wrong.
Tip: Ensure your caregiver’s hire date is correct in your scheduling system. The reward uses this as the source of truth.
